The agency says taking the test at home will save significant time at the DMV field office, which drivers will still have to visit to get a photo and thumbprint taken and to complete a vision exam. According to the Times-Herald, completing a 45-minute online course will replace the written test.
California's Department of Motor Vehicles is now allowing the written test to be taken online or skipped altogether.
